Holiness: Its Nature, Hindrances, Difficulties, and Roots

“I have had a deep conviction for many years that practical holiness and entire self-consecration to God are not sufficiently attended to by modern Christians in this country. . . The subject of personal godliness has fallen sadly into the background. The standard of living has become painfully low in many quarters. The immense importance of ‘adorning the doctrine of God our Saviour’ (Titus 2:10), and making it lovely and beautiful by our daily habits and tempers, has been far too much overlooked. . . . It is my heartís desire and prayer to God daily that personal holiness may increase greatly among professing Christians . . . But I trust that all who endeavour to promote it will adhere closely to the proportion of Scripture, will carefully distinguish things that differ, and will separate ‘the precious from the vile’ (Jer. 15:19).”

Hardcover, unabridged, vol. VII of the collected works, includes introduction by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, 440 Smyth-sewn pages, ISBN 0-9677603-4-8, $29.95.
